A New Chapter for Community Sport in Kettering

North Northamptonshire Council is proud to celebrate the official opening of the upgraded tennis courts and community room at Northampton Road Pavilion in Kettering. This project reflects our shared commitment to improving local facilities and supporting healthy, active communities. Opened on Saturday 4th April 2026, by Councillor Brian Benneyworth, Executive Member for Leisure and representatives from Kettering Tennis Club and FCC Communities Foundation.

Working closely with Kettering Tennis Club, we have helped bring a fresh and improved experience to players of all ages and abilities. The club has long been a valued part of the local area, and these upgrades build on its strong history while creating new opportunities for residents to get involved in sport.

Thanks to funding support from the Council and the FCC Communities Fund, the tennis courts have been enhanced to offer a higher standard of play. These improvements will not only benefit current members, but also open the door to wider community use, encouraging more people to pick up a racket and enjoy the game.

A key upgrade is the installation of new LED floodlights. These lights are brighter and more energy efficient, helping to extend playing hours into the evening while reducing environmental impact. It means the courts are now more accessible throughout the day and across the seasons, making it easier for people to stay active at times that suit them.

Inside the pavilion, the new community room offers a welcoming space for social connection. Whether it is club activity, local meetings, or community events, this space will play an important role in bringing people together.

We would also like to recognise the generous contribution of the Brigstock Family, whose private donation has provided a new spectator patio and seating area. This addition creates a warm and relaxed setting for families and friends to watch, support, and spend time together. It adds to the friendly atmosphere that makes Kettering Tennis Club such a special place.
