☀️ A Summer of Family Fun
Active Families had a fantastic summer, bringing communities together through 22 activities across North Northamptonshire between 12 July and 13 September. From the Raunds Summer Picnic to the Lodge Park Family Funday, thousands of residents enjoyed opportunities to get active, make memories and spend quality time together.
Over the summer, an incredible 14,358 people took part in Active Families activities, representing around 4,100 families from across the area. Our Active Families Fundays once again proved to be a highlight of the school holidays, welcoming more than 13,000 attendees across four events. The Rushden Active Families Funday was particularly special, attracting our biggest ever crowd and creating a brilliant atmosphere for families to enjoy.
A huge part of this success came from the amazing support of our partners. We were proud to work alongside 60 organisations throughout the summer, helping to offer a wide variety of activities, experiences and opportunities for local residents. It was fantastic to see so many people getting involved, trying something new and connecting with others in their communities.
The summer programme also included popular Xplorer navigation challenges in Wellingborough and Kettering, as well as support for a range of community events, including Rothwell Town Council's Rothwell Run Around, Youthfest at Green Patch in Kettering, Kingswood Corby's Mini Golf event, Glamis Hall's Family Festival in Wellingborough, the Pride in Place Launch at The Grange, and Family Fun Sessions delivered in partnership with Family Hubs across four locations.
Perhaps the most rewarding feedback came from those who attended, with every survey respondent saying they would recommend our events to a friend and would like to come back next year.
A big thank you to everyone who attended, and a huge thank you to our colleagues at NNLeisure for all your hard work over the summer.
