🌿 Celebrating National Walking Day: Spotlight on Tina, Our Inspiring Walk Leader

Today is National Walking Day (1st April) its the perfect moment for us at NNLeisure to celebrate the incredible individuals who keep our Wellbeing Walks thriving. Today, we’re shining a well‑deserved spotlight on someone who embodies positivity and community spirit: Tina, Walk Leader for the Thrapston group and the Raunds Diamond Walkers.

🚶‍♀️ From Walker to Leader: Tina’s Journey

Tina first joined the Thrapston Wellbeing Walks as a participant, simply looking to enjoy the benefits of walking and community connection. But her passion quickly grew into something more.

Recognising her warm approach and natural ability to motivate others, Tina trained to become the Walk Leader for Thrapston and later expanded her support by leading the Raunds Diamond Walkers on Thursday evenings. Her commitment to creating welcoming, accessible walking opportunities has helped countless people feel confident to get moving.

🌟 Growing the Thrapston Walk

Since becoming a walk leader, Tina has helped the Thrapston walk grow in the last 6 months her number of participants has jumped from 3 or 4 a week to 15 most weeks, which is an amazing achievement that reflects her enthusiasm for supporting people of all ages and abilities.

Her groups consistently comment on her friendliness, her encouragement, and the positive atmosphere she creates every week.

💚 A Personal Challenge, Powered by Community

This February, Tina set herself a personal challenge: to walk 28 miles to support Macmillan and those affected by cancer.

And she didn’t just meet her goal... she absolutely smashed it:

  • 101 miles walked

  • £500 raised

  • Walks completed with Raunds, Thrapston, Kettering and Nassington groups

  • Plus… her first ever parkrun!

Tina shared that “the lovely community of wellbeing walkers certainly kept me motivated” - a sentiment that beautifully reflects what our walking groups are all about.
