Meet the Team, Sam WAtson - ACtivity Buddy Co-odinator

Hi, I'm Sam - i joined the team in April this year as the North Northamptonshire, Activity Buddy Coordinator.

The Activity Buddy Scheme is a wonderful 12-week programme which links buddies with others to do activities together to overcome their barriers. This can be anything from sports, one of our wellbeing walks to a local group. My role is to meet buddies, together set a plan for their time on the programme and sometimes I am there to support introductions. 

I worked in leisure some years ago and always had an interest in working with those that had barriers to activity. 

I benefited from the scheme in the early days myself so have a particular passion for it. 

1 How long have you worked for North Northamptonshire Council for?

Since May 2025.

2 What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Being a small part of the journey with a buddy and seeing their confidence grow, isolation reduce as they meet others. 

3 How do you unwind after work?

 I foster dogs so enjoy hanging out with them and my family. 

4 Which flavour of ice cream do you prefer?!

Anything vegan is always well received!
