Active for Health

The Council’s Active for Health Project will develop and strengthen partnerships to improve the access and quality of services in leisure facilities in North Northamptonshire. Working with delivery partners NN Leisure, Places Leisure and Freedom Leisure to improve activity services and programmes across North Northamptonshire and ensure resources are in place to meet the needs of the community.

In the Corby in-house facilities we deliver the following sessions at Lodge Park Sports Centre and Corby East Midlands International Swimming Pool.


Activity on Referral - A 12 week tailored exercise programme, to support your health condition. This is for Adults 16 plus, with a variety of medical conditions. Referrals can be given by health professionals, nurses and GP's.

Phase IV Cardiac Rehabilitation - Provides both individual programmes and group exercise sessions in a safe environment. Cardiac patients after an event or procedure, can be referred by exercise physiologist at the hospital.

Testimonial: “The programme was excellent,” Duncan shares. “At the start, I was scared of what I could and couldn’t do.” Duncan completed all 12 sessions of the Cardiac Rehab Phase IV programme, and through those weeks, he began to see real progress. The tailored exercises not only helped with his fatigue and mobility but also played a huge role in helping him rebuild his strength. Over time, the fear and uncertainty gave way to motivation and confidence. "I feel 100% more fit and far less tired,” he says. “The support from the staff was incredible — I can’t praise them enough.”

We CAN Move - Cancer Rehabilitation - A 16 week programme that is bespoke to you and your goals, and where you are in your cancer journey. Including a group session every Wednesday, 11am to 12pm at Lodge Park Sports Centre. For adults affected by cancer, can be referred by a health care professional involved in your care.

Testimonial: David, who continues to attend weekly, said "he’s thankful to have been invited to join. He finds the exercises refreshingly different from a typical gym session, with just the right level of challenge."

Get up and Go - Falls Prevention - The group sessions consist of a minimum of a 24 weeks programming and exercise prescription, delivered by OTAGO qualified exercise professionals. For adults that have a increased risk of falls, self referral or medical referral accepted.

Testimonial: Nicola had to improve her balance with prostheses after an amputation. She was successful in doing so, as her balance improved by 60%. Nicola said "that you can do it at your speed in these classes and feel comfortable."

Good Boost - Personalised exercise programs to improved joint mobility, reduce pain and enhance overall physical wellbeing. Adults with musculoskeletal conditions, pregnant women or those looking for low impact exercise in the water. referral professionals or self referral.

Testimonial: “My back pain has reduced and I'm not experiencing as many flare-ups, I feel better overall. The sessions have helped me meet new people and gain in confidence, I love the water, and the instructors are all so helpful and supportive.”

Body Composition Analysis - Individuals looking to gain insights into their overall health and fitness levels. provides detailed measurements of body composition, muscle mass, fat percentage, hydration levels, metabolic age and more. This is done via self referral.

NHS Health Checks - Early detection of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and diabetes with tailored advice to a healthier lifestyle. Adult aged 40-74 without a pre existing medical condition.


Aqua for Pregnancy Ladies.

Aqua for pregnant women & women who are up to 1 year post partum. Swimming is one of the safest ways to exercise during pregnancy as the water supports your joints whilst providing resistance work for the muscles. Non swimmers & swimmers welcome.
