Meet Our Active Communities Team!

At North Northamptonshire Leisure, our Active Communities Team is all about helping people of all ages get moving, stay healthy, and have fun! From SPLAT holiday clubs to school programmes, walking football, Kidz Clubs in Corby, cheerleading, and community events, we’re here to make physical activity accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone. 💃 Megan Buchanan – Active Communities Officer


Intro: Hi, I’m Megan! I started with the Council as a casual sports coach at 17, and somehow blinked and now I’m in my 30s working as an Active Communities Officer. It’s been about 7 years in this role, but who’s really counting when you’re having fun?

  • How long have you worked for North Northamptonshire Council?

    Since I was 17 – well over a decade now!

  • Most rewarding part of your job?

    Seeing people smile, get active, and enjoy themselves. I especially love seeing kids who came to our clubs now working alongside us in NN Leisure!

  • How do you unwind after work?

    I run community Zumba classes in the evenings – love it! Weekends are for chilling with a spicy margarita.

  • Favourite ice cream flavour?

    Not a huge ice cream girlie, but a sherbet 99 and it was a bit of me!!


🏊 Ottavio Tanzillo – Active Communities Officer


Intro: Hi, I’m Ottavio! I’m passionate about helping our communities move more, feel better, and live healthier lives. With a background in teaching and national-level swimming, I love making physical activity inclusive and accessible for everyone.

  • How long have you worked for North Northamptonshire Council?

    Just over one month – and loving it!

  • Most rewarding part of your job?

    Seeing the positive impact our programmes have – from boosting confidence to improving wellbeing.

  • How do you unwind after work?

    Dog walks with my two furry friends.

  • Favourite ice cream flavour?

    Strawberry 🍓


🏃 Craig Ellis – Active Communities Assistant


Intro: I’m Craig, and I support sessions and events across the community – from SPLAT holiday clubs to Junior Leisure Club and school programmes. My role is all about helping people move more and feel better through fun, inclusive activities.

  • How long have you worked for North Northamptonshire Council?

    Since October 2017, starting with Corby Borough Council.

  • Most rewarding part of your job?

    Encouraging people of all ages to be more active and seeing them enjoy the sessions we plan.

  • How do you unwind after work?

    Watching TV and catching up with friends and family.

  • Favourite ice cream flavour?

    Chocolate Brownies – no contest!
