Meet the Team - Scott Grant Lodge Park Sports Centre Manager

Updated: Jul 18

My day-to-day role involves overseeing the management of Lodge Park Sports Centre and West Glebe Pavilion, as well as supporting local football clubs to ensure their junior and adult teams have access to Corby community grass pitches.

I also lead the health and fitness management team, working across Lodge Park, Corby East Midlands International Pool, and West Glebe. Together, we're focused on driving services forward and enhancing what we offer. Looking to the future, our ambition is to see these sites continue to grow as central hubs for health, wellbeing, and physical activity across the community.

As you've probably gathered, I'm passionate about making physical activity accessible to everyone. In recent years, we’ve made great strides in supporting individuals with long-term health conditions to become (and stay) more active, and I’m proud of the impact this work is having.

The role is fast-paced (sometimes a little too fast!), with lots of moving parts – from managing staff and overseeing services, to keeping the day-to-day operations of our leisure centres running smoothly. But I genuinely love what I do. I take a huge amount of pride in our work and in what we’ve achieved as a team.

I’m especially excited about the future of Lodge Park Sports Centre. There’s still plenty to do, and I know I won’t always get everything right, but I’m committed to improving our services every day for the benefit of all our residents and users.

1 How long have you worked for North Northamptonshire Council for?

I worked for Corby Borough Council from 2004 to 2015, where I left for 3 years to manage elsewhere. I returned in 2018 until now, which is a total of 18 years.

2 What is the most rewarding part of your job?

As I come from a health and physical activity background, seeing people improve their life through the schemes we run such as Activity on Referral, Cardiac Rehab, Cancer Rehab and Get Up and Go is amazing to see. Our staff have such an incredible impact (they often don’t realise how important the work they do is), and its inspiring to be a part of it. Recently, we had a person come into Lodge Park Sports Centre who was extremely frail and unable to walk unaided. They struggled to simply get out of a chair. To see them 6 months later now walk into centre with no support at all with a smile on their face, and tell us how much their lives have improved, is an unbelievable feeling!

3 How do you unwind after work?

I still play football at weekends and I enjoy riding my motorcycle when the British weather lets me. I listen to podcasts and probably watch more Netflix than I should, but spending time with my family is what I love to do most. My daughter is growing up so fast, I want to cherish this time as much as I can before she becomes a teenager and decides she has better things to do than spend time with her dad!

4 Which flavour of ice cream do you prefer?!

I’m a bit boring and love vanilla but especially Scottish or Cornish ice cream. I also love an ice cream with little toffee / fudge pieces in it. I am going to buy some this weekend now!
